The holidays are a great chance to showcase your brand via social media. Here are a few of the best ideas for giving your brand a boost during the holidays with social media:
1. Update your social media profiles
One easy way to get into the holiday mood is to create special holiday-themed images for all of your social media profiles, such as a new holiday-themed image for your Facebook cover photo. Online, you can easily get a list of all the recommended sizes you’ll need for your social media images, and from there, it’s relatively easy to ask your design team to come up with some festive looks. (And don’t forget about email, either. More and more brands are using emoticons in the subject line of emails and this could be an easy way to inject some holiday cheer in a very easy way.)
2. Create new holiday-themed content
From there, the next step is to start coming up with holiday-themed content. Instagram is a great place to start if you’re looking to build brand awareness. But remember – you need to stay on-brand when doing this. So post photos of the office holiday party, but only if it helps to convey the bigger brand picture. You could also come up with holiday-themed content for your corporate blog.
3. Host a holiday-themed social media contest
Everybody loves a good contest, and especially during the holidays, when everyone’s in a gift-giving mood. The best contests, of course, are the ones where customers can win your best products — not just a bunch of swag with your corporate name emblazoned on it. The contest should help to express your brand. If charity is a big part of your brand and mission, then think of ways that these contests can help people in need during the holidays. For example, people might be able to vote on which nonprofit organization wins a big holiday donation check from your company.
4. Reward and thank your best customers
The holidays are a time to celebrate family, and they’re also a great time to celebrate your best customers. Now is a great time to help tell their stories on social media, or to make them the stars of your new holiday-themed content. If you’re holding an in-store event, now’s the time to celebrate your best customers. There are lots of ways to reward your customers. For example, you might let one of your star brand ambassadors take over your Instagram feed for a weekend. Or you could host a Facebook Live event with your customers.
As a final word of advice, remember not to over-do it over the holidays. Sometimes even the best-intentioned marketing initiatives can seem a bit too commercial during the holidays. You don’t want to be seen as monetizing the winter holidays! Nothing is more annoying than settling down for a little family time during the holidays and being bombarded by brand messages on Facebook to go out and shop!
